All beings tremble before violence. All fear death, all love life. See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?" -- Buddha
When you think about animals who have been abused or neglected, you'd wish to
help them all. The reality is, you can't... But you might be able to save one
of them who has been waiting for your help. A little makes differences.
1) Animal Rescue Organizations
- The Rolling Dog
Ranch Animal Sanctuary
- Rescues and shelters disabled animals who would be usually etherized. Please
visit this website. You will see many animals who have very sad stories behind
them but now show smiles on their faces. I guarantee you their smiles
give a nice warm feeling in your heart.
- Dogs In Danger
- They connect you and a dog who is scheduled to be euthanized in a few days.
It'd be uncomfortable to see lists of names and photos of dogs on their website but that is the reality we cannot ignore.
- PMU Rescue
- The pregnant mares' urine (PMU) industry provides the estrogen-rich raw material
for the production of the widely used women's hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
drugs. PMU Rescue posts available horses
to save production mares and foals born to production mares before ending up
at slaughter house.
- Lifesavers Wild
Horse Rescue
- Nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent American Mustangs from
suffering abuse, neglect and slaughter.
- Animals Asia Foundation
- Animals Asia is a Hong Kong-based charity, dedicated to ending cruelty and
restoring respect for all animals in Asia.
- Snow Leopard Trust
- Founded in 1981 to protect the endangered snow leopard and its Central Asian habitat. An estimated 3500 to 7000 wild snow leopard live in the central Asia mountains today. I saw them at a local summer festival and was fascinated by this program.
- Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society
- Established in December 2003 and it is the only society dedicated to the conservation of whales, dolphins and porpoises of Hong Kong. They have been researching and rising awareness of the endangered Chinese white dolphin. Currently, approximately 200 of these remain in the waters around Hong Kong. Chosen as one of Jane Goodall's Heroes.
- Inti Wara Yassi
- The wildlife sanctuary to rehabilitate animals that have been abandoned, and to protect the wildlife of the Bolivian rainforest. Founded in 1992, originally aided poor or orphaned children by teaching them a trade so that they could support themselves and their families. The organization's direction changed slightly when the founder, Juan Carlos, took the children on a trip along an Incan trail and they saw hundreds of burned trees and found a starving, caged bird. They decided to take action and the Inti Wara Yassi sanctuary was created.
Chosen as one of Jane Goodall's Heroes.
- The Jane Goodall Institute
- Founded by primatologist Jane Goodall in 1977, JGI is a global nonprofit organization that empowers people to make a difference for all living things. When I saw her on TV at the first time, I was amazed how humble she seemed, but her message was very strong. I think many of us have been touched by her.
- African Wildlife Foundation - AWF
- Funded in 1961, focused solely on Africa. AWF conserves land, protects species and empowers African people. Years of civil wars in many African countries destroyed their lands and lives. It led locals to hunt wild animals for meat and fur. Chimpanzees, gorillas and bonobos' mothers are shot to take their infants for the live animal trade - illegal pet market, entertainment or biomedical research in the United States and other countries. One of their programs is to save Bonobos in Congo. Bonobos were called the Pygmy Chimpanzee until recently because they are smaller but different. They share 98.4 percent of our genetic makeup which is more than chimpanzees or gorillas.

for all of us - No More Homeless Animals.
